DHL last-mile drivers get collective status for some workers


Drivers based in Washington state may collectively file wage and hour claims against dhl Express and last-mile delivery partners, but they have failed to convince a federal judge to include drivers elsewhere.

dhl Express (USA) Inc. and local partner Sidwell Air Freight Inc. allegedly failed to pay overtime or provide appropriate breaks. The U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington said two couriers received conditional certification from the Washington Drivers Fair Labor Standards Act class, but jurisdictional issues prevented plaintiffs from out of state from opting in.
